AIADMK

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) was initially known as Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK). It was founded by the famous MG Ramachandran (MGR), who broke away from Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam earlier in 1972.

Since its founding, AIADMK has won seven times making it the most successful state political party in the history of Indian politics. Also, it is known to butt-heads with its rival DMK.

Since MGR's death in 1987, the party split into two factions with MGR's wife Janaki on one end and J. Jayalalitha on the other. In 1989, with DMK winning the elections, both women decided to come together as one, in order to strengthen the party with Jayalalitha as its leader.

The party saw glorious times during Jayalalitha's rule, though it faced its set of controversies. With Jayalalitha's death in 2016, the party yet again split into two factions, but  later, merged themselves with O. Paneerselvam and E. Palanisaami
