Madras Day is a festival organised to to commemorate the founding of the city Madras it is celebrated on August 22nd up every year. August 22 1639 its been widely agreed date for the purchase of village Madrasapattinam by the East India  Company.
This idea first suggested by a journalist  2 and historian during a meeting of the trustees in Chennai Heritage Foundation in 2004. since then Madras Day celebration is being followed in celebrated every year without fail.
it is an unique festival which No other society has. the celebration consists of even such as Heritage walks public talk exhibition poetry competition and special programs on local radios  and also contest such as T-Shirt designing documentary film contest multimedia presentations in Tamil and English on this day. It is a traditional and a cultural event owned by no other society.
