The Crocodile Park

When tourists visit Chennai, they usually go to the 'mandate' places like Vandalur Zoo, the beach or to the malls. But how about going to some place different?

The Crocodile Bank is actually known as Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Center for Herpetology. For those of you who don't know, Herpetology is a branch of Zoology that deals with Amphibians.

The Park is not exactly located in Chennai, but is actually 40 kilometers away from the city. This wonderful place aims to preserve and protect endangered Amphibians. And also, did you know that the Crocodile Park is the first crocodile breeding center in Asia.

Not only crocodiles, but this park also serves as a safe nesting spot for Olive Ridley Turtles. Besides its fauna, this park is known for its flora.

The most notable feature of this park is that it has opened its doors for animal enthusiasts who wish to volunteer to care for these fascinating beings.
