Parthasarathy Temple
Parthasarathy Temple is an 8th Century temple built by the Pallavas. It is located in Triplicane,, dedicated to lord Krishna.
According to Hindu Mythology, the name Parthasarathy is derived from the epic Mahabharath. The name means 'Charioteer of Arjun.'
The temple is one of the oldest monuments in Chennai. Though it is dedicated to Lord Krishna, the temple has five forms of Lord Vishnu: Gajendra Varadaraja, Krishna, Narasimha, Rama and Ranganatha.
The temple is busiest during the Margazhi month where on Vaikunta Ekadasi, people 'enter Heaven.' Besides different idols of Vishnu, this temple has idols of Andal, Hanuman and Alvar among other idols.
