Gateway of India
The Gateway of India is a monument located at Nariman Point, Mumbai.
The monument was built to honor Queen Mary and King George V, who visited India in the year 1911. The architect in-charge of the construction of the monument was George Wittet, wanted the monument to have a uniqueness to it. It has a mixture of Hindu and Muslim architecture, with a hint of Roman architecture.
In present times, the monument serves as a tourist spot with many local vendors, tour guides and photographers flocking the area.
Despite this, the place is a 'victim' of multiple terror attacks such as the infamous 2008 Mumbai Attacks, 2003 Twin Car Bombing among other freakish acts.
But don't worry, with extensive security that has been placed since 2008 has made thata place secure for visitation.
