For the people who love shopping but can spend much, Crawford Market is the place to go to. It is one of the most crowded places in India.
The market was established in the year 1869 and fun fact; it was the first building in India to run entirely on electricity.
Although the real name of the market is Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai, the locals prefer to introduce the markets using its previous name. This is an all purpose market which sells fruits, vegetables, pets, clothing, perfume, toys... you name it and you find it! The best way to get to the market is by taking the local train that stops at CST railway station for the market is located right next to the station.
With clothes, one can also admire the architecture of the building. It was designed by British architect William Emerson. The building is a mix of Norman and Flemish architecure.
